Showroom Visit | Walter Van Beirendonck Spring 2011

I recently visited the showroom of Belgian-based designer, Walter Van Beirendonck, who is known as one of the Antwerp Six. Presently he's the director of fashion at his Alma mater, The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. For his Spring 2011 collection, Beirendonck conveys his view on current affairs. Floral and plaid fill the collection of military style jumpsuits, blazers, and cargo shorts. Words like faith, love and hope in 3D, were a consistent theme throughout the collection, which was Beirendonck's attempt to counteract all the despair in the world. Which also included fun accessories, like a robot backpack and futuristic eye wear, all of which show Beirendonck's versatility and his ability to blend cohesive ideas.

With an immeasurable amount of experience in the footwear industry, its no surprise that designer Alison Muskat has launched her newest venture, ROCKadelic. Described as Rock 'n' Roll attitude inspired, the versatile men's line exudes a rock appeal with a unique discreetness. Last week I had the pleasure of attending a preview of the collection. I was walked through each design by Ms. Muskat, while she explained her vision for the brand, and the ideal client that she creates for.

One of her key objectives was not to deviate far from some of the classic styles that men are familiar with. She wants to give men a progressive upgrade, while infusing a bit of newness. Although. I have to say she's revamped your father's classics to suit today's man. All while keeping in mind men and their need for convenience. Allison has incorporated details like zippered heels, Velcro straps, and goring in more ways than one. I think men will appreciate that most styles can be slipped on, while giving the appearance of a laced shoe. Another fascinating aspect was her diverse use of textures and washes. She mixed and matched worn canvas on boots, distressed leathers, and wingtips with contrasting oiled cap toes on a neutral color palette. All proving why ROCKadelic looks to be a promising label that men can get behind.

Showroom Visit | Custo Barcelona Mens SS10

Last week the editorial team stopped by Custo Barcelona's showroom, to see their entire SS10 collection up close and personal. I know some people can't really wrap their minds around Custo, but they have been a fav of mines for years. They always seem to get enough things right to keep me coming back. Like the t-shirts in bright colors and wild motifs, and the sneakers that come in balanced colors that you can rock with just about anything. Nexus Showroom | Jaded By Knight

Ms. Shoo over at our sister site SheBreathes, sent the lovely Ms. Ebony over to Nexus Showroom, for a play with the press day. While, I have never heard of Jaded By Knight before, I'm glad she was able to snap some pictures of their SS10 collection. The label was started by Noah Dayani and Michael Amir in 2004 and it's based in L.A. These two are bringing it with their trendy yet cutting edge designs for men. The exotic leathers that they've distressed and fatigued treatments, give each piece that good and worn in look. Even the more embellished pieces appeal to me. I'm not really into hardware like studs, but they do it well without being flashy. This is something you normally only find in European or Japanese brands.
